The game, a free-to-play action role-playing online multiplayer video game (RPG), was developed by Netmarble Monster and published globally by the South Korean company Netmarble for PC and mobile devices on April 7, 2026. The latest title by Netmarble, this game is a soft reboot of the 2013 mobile hit Monster Taming starring nostalgic characters and fun new gameplay built on Unreal Engine 5. Straight away it has found its niche in a crowded anime RPG market already with the collecting process and combat which is instant-paced.
The game, which is taking place in a colourful fantasy world populated by humans, elves and monsters who live more or less together with each other, stars the young monster tamer guy Cloud his friend Verna you can make your on character too by creating your own avatar, this builds an extensive adventure. Nyanners is our cutie cat. Cloud has a gift for conversing with monsters, and he begins to be plagued by dreams of the mysterious nine-tailed fox that becomes the chief mystery in much of Cloud's early narrative. There's multiple themed zones from medieval Western fantasy forests, all the way down to a new cyberpunk zone being developed and everything in between complete with different cultural histories and secrets buried within.
As for the core gameplay, it is based on real-time triple tag team combat where players form a party of three characters from four roles—fighter, assassin, destroyer, and support, and can switch between each at any time. What sets it apart is that the active characters stay on, continued to attack and layer effects meaning timing attacks for maximum damage as well as elemental weaknesses are more important than in most other systems. Mastering character switches lets players perform powerful tag skills, making the combat feel intuitive for casual game players but those who enjoy strategy gaming can easily step it up a gear.
The most unique aspect of this game is the Monsterling system, which has been touted as one of its selling points. With the assistance of Nyanners, players are able to capture souls from wild monsters and transform them into Monsterlings—trinkets that provide stats, passive skills & chain-link attacks based on combat conditions. In case you possessed two Monsterlings, you'll be able to synthesize them into new Monsterlings that may inherit or combine the respective features of either parent character; moreover, some uncommon variants associated with Dragon Quest Monsters can only contact as a result of synthesis.
MONGIL is less intense than what you may be used to from other games, as it allows players to enjoy the story without being forced into competition with others. The free-to-play story is fully completable without spending a dime, and it has no 50/50 mechanic on featured banners so the gacha system feels pretty fair. You can learn more here. Cross-platform play is fully supported, so you can also interchange between PC and mobile. Featuring gorgeous graphics, an inspired narrative and other innovations to the current formula that breathes new life into a genre stagnating from repetition, MONGIL is one adventure sure to appeal to anyone who enjoys monster-collecting or action RPGs by now.
